RYAN WILKES - MOUNTAIN PARROT

"Kea are the world’s only species of alpine parrot. They are endemic to New Zealand’s Southern Alps and are recognized as some of the most intelligent birds on our planet – a trait that helps them survive in challenging alpine conditions, but also gets them into trouble occasionally. As I set up my tent on a ridge above the Mueller Valley, a group of 4 Kea curiously approached me. I grabbed my camera as I knew from many previous encounters that they would likely move in closer to inspect my camping gear. I was able to capture this frame of one of the juveniles just as it spread its wings mid-hop to get closer to me, revealing gorgeous red plumage that is usually hidden under the wing. Kea are listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List and there are an estimated 3000 to 7000 individuals left in the wild".

YVON JOLIVET - THE HORDE

"This photograph was captured in the field in eastern Quebec (Canada). Buffalo breeding is not common in this region. This buffalo run was seen when the animals escaped from their enclosure. Then, a crazy racing began..".
